ARMA (stylized as ARMA) is a tactical military shooter franchise presented in a first-person perspective, initially developed for Microsoft Windows. Known for its emphasis on realism and simulation, the series combines expansive military operations across vast terrains with intense close-quarters combat. The debut title launched in 2006, followed by subsequent releases up to 2013, with later entries expanding to platforms like Linux, Android, and iOS. The first installment, titled *ARMA: Armed Assault* in most regions but marketed as *ARMA: Combat Operations* in the U.S., debuted in November 2006 in Central Europe, followed by wider European and American releases in early 2007. Built on Real Virtuality 2, it established the series’ signature blend of strategic depth and large-scale warfare. *ARMA 3*, a standalone entry powered by Real Virtuality 4, arrived on September 12, 2013, for Windows.
